Many expected there to be a scintillating display of golf at Detroit Golf Club. Well, they weren’t disappointed one bit as the field of golfers took to dish out their best over the three days of play at the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic. The event, which kicked off on June 27, will see its final round held on Sunday, June 30, to determine the champ.
The winner of the Rocket Mortgage Classic will be able to receive the title of trophy and a winner’s cut from the total prize purse for the event. One can’t help but wonder about the dollar bills that are set aside for the tournament that followed the final signature event on the PGA Tour that was held last week at TPC River Highlands.
What’s at stake for the golfers at the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic?

The event at Detroit Golf Club will provide a huge monetary benefit to the athlete who manages to beat the whole field on Sunday. As per the official PGA Tour announcement, a cut of $1,656,000 from a total prize purse of $9.2 million will be awarded to the champ, while the runner-up will receive $1,002,800. The event, which boasts a field rating of 238.56170, will also offer points on the Official World Golf Ranking system to the golfer who emerges victorious. The champ will be awarded a figure of 41.03087, a bit lower than the 41.96739 that Rickie Fowler received back in 2023 for winning the tournament.
That’s not all. The winner of the Rocket Mortgage Classic will also get 500 FedEx Cup points, which will add to the season-long standings for the playoffs that will kick off in August. Such attractive rewards in the store explain the reason why such a strong lineup of golfers are aiming for the top spot.

A hopeful Luke Clanton hopes to replicate Nick Dunlap
He had finished T41 with Scottie Scheffler back at the 2024 U.S. Open. He is now aiming for the crown at the Rocket Mortgage Classic while at T7, with one more day to go. Luke Clanton put up figures of 14-under 202 after three days of play, making it the third highest an amateur golfer has scored after 54 holes in the last four years on Tour.

With a total of 16 birdies, and an eagle at par-5, 14th on the third round, the Florida native jumped 19 places to tie himself with the likes of Min Woo Lee and Joel Dahmen. The amazing performance he showcased helped him have a shot at winning the Rocket Mortgage Classic as an amateur, just like Nick Dunlap at the 2024 American Express.
