It looks like the 2024 Masters champ is truly returning back to his dream run. Scottie Scheffler is currently leading the scoreboard once again at the 2024 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday after two rounds of play. He did so while carding a scintillating figure of 9-under par, all the while easily qualifying himself to play on Moving Day. But his journey is far from over, as he is still tailed by the rest of the 51 golfers who will still have to tee it up for two more days.

Although a total of 73 PGA Tour Pros teed it up on June 6, Thursday, a total of 21 athletes failed to make the projected cutline at +4, thereby heading home early. Now, just two days remain for the rest of the field to grab a cut of the $20 million pay. And Moving Day will undoubtedly help in deciding how it will turn out at The Memorial Tournament!

When will Scottie Scheffler tee off on Saturday at the Memorial Tournament?

The defending champion of the event, Viktor Hovland, is currently tailing the world No. 1 at T2 while being tied with Adam Hadwin. The Canadian would, thus, tee alongside Scheffler on the third day of play, as per the official tee timings. The Norwegian would, at the same time, hope to clinch his title while starting the third round with Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

The 27-year-old has a total of 4 victories from 12 starts in the 2024 PGA Tour calendar, not to mention a total of 11 top-10 finishes, including the same. If he is to emerge victorious once again, then the athlete would be able to join the likes of Tiger Woods, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas,  Nick Price, Tom Watson, and Vijay Singh in the list of golfers who have won 5 events in a single year (the last three of whom, including Woods, have more than 5).

But then he would have to keep his top form at The Memorial Tournament, which boasts a challenge of a course, which even the defending champion would agree to. Hovland had divulged the same ahead of the signature event in a press conference; “This golf course doesn’t care about your memories or good vibes. It’s going to punish you and bring you down if you miss it on the wrong sides.”

That’s not all, he even mentioned how it is one of the hardest courses one can play in all year while adding, “You definitely have to bring your A game, whether you’re defending champion or not.” Well, regardless of the lead, it appears the 2024 Masters champ still has a long way to go to clinch his fifth win of the season.
