Athletes like Woods, who has a total of 82 PGA Tour wins, including 15 majors to his name, are rare in the sporting world. Most of his big victories on the greens can be traced down to an important shot that was made during a vital part of the game. And, as a result of the same, stress can arise in such situations.
A video was uploaded by TaylorMade Golf on their Instagram handle which showed a young fan asking the pro about how he “handles the pressure.” The 47-year-old, to the question, revealed how he makes his “practices that intense.” Adding on, the 15X major champ divulged how he keeps a “little bit of window” during his practice sessions where he enacts the role of a commentator or creates a situation as if the athlete is actually in the midst of an important game. He mentioned how “stirring up emotions” that he would feel during an important moment helped him face the same when it came.
Continuing with his response, the 82X PGA Tour pro recalled how he “grew up like any kid trying to make putts against Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Jones,” dubbing it as “fun.” Moreover, he made sure to point out how one should end the day “on a positive note… on a high” all the while advising the youngster to keep practicing until he makes the shot. Mr. T expressed his love for conjuring up challenges in his head, that helped him stay at the top, such as playing in majors, against his heroes, or making an exceptionally hard shot into the “fairway of the narrowest U.S. Open” one has ever seen.
