Just one more round for the Charles Schwab Challenge to dish out its winner. The event, which kicked off on May 23, will soon see its end at the Colonial Country Club on May 26. Although it has been a tragic week so far for the PGA Tour with the unexpected demise of Grayson Murray, the circuit can’t help but follow the wishes of the late golfer’s family when they asked the tournament to be continued.
“They were adamant that Grayson would want us to do so,” divulged a sad Jay Monahan in a statement he made during the third round after Murray’s demise on Saturday. And continue with the tournament they plan to do as the rest of the field aims for the title of champion and its trophy. However, is that all they will be receiving for the victory? Not even close!

Aside from the monetary benefits that are awarded to the athletes in the field at the Charles Schwab Challenge, the OWGR will grant the professionals points as well. The world ranking system has allocated a projected figure of 52.05234 points to the champ, who will emerge victorious in the tournament with a field rating of 302.64274. Moreover, he will also receive 500 FedEx Cup points to help them qualify for the season-ending playoffs.
While the benefits do stand apart for the professionals on the PGA Tour, pushing them with the much-needed momentum to finish well at the Charles Schwab Challenge, there will only be a single victor on the greens.

The American pro has garnered a total of four wins on the circuit in 2024. Moreover, he has been having an extremely successful year as of late, with 10 top-10 finishes from 11 starts. If he manages to shoot past Riley and claim another victory, that would make it his 5th win this season as well as his 11th PGA Tour win overall. This would allow the pro to join the group of golfers who have clinched five victories in a single season, including the likes of Tiger Woods, Jason Day, and Jordan Spieth, among others.
