The 2024 Sony Open is set to kick off at the Wai’alae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 11. After a stellar start to the PGA Tour with the Sentry 2024, the second event will boast a 144-player field. While the event is not a signature event like the Sentry, players will still want to secure a win here.

And the field for the Sony Open is set. The event will have some of the biggest names on the PGA Tour lining up to compete for a prize purse of $7.9 million. But to secure this win, players would check the weather conditions first.

The 2024 Sony Open has a high chance of humidity

The second PGA Tour event is set to start on January 11 and last until January 14. And all those days have high humidity on their weather reports. On the first day of the event (January 11), the temperature is expected to reach 76 degrees with a low of 62 degrees. There are zero chance of rain but a 68% chance of humidity. Furthermore, the wind will probably be at 14 miles per hour.

However, the next day (January 12) is expected to be much windier. The temperature will be nearly 72 degrees at its highest and 65 degrees at its lowest. There is a 5% chance of precipitation and 65% recorded humidity. The winds are expected to reach a speed of 18 miles per hour.

On January 13, players will have similar conditions as before. The highest temperature will be approximately 76 degrees, and the lowest will be 64 degrees. The wind is expected to remain around 14 miles per hour. There is a 5% chance of precipitation and 65% recorded humidity.

After the golfers are done competing on the windy course for three full days, they will probably be relieved on Sunday, as the wind is expected to blow comparatively slowly.

The final round of the PGAT event to be less windy

January 14 will prove to be the least windy day for players. On the day of the final round of the 2024 Sony Open, the temperature will be 77 degrees high and 65 degrees low. The precipitation chances will remain at 5% and the humidity at 67%. However, the wins will slow down to 5 miles per hour. With optimal weather conditions, fans can watch their favorite players have a run towards the trophy.

While the event has a 144-player field, many top names are missing. Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Viktor Hovland have opted to not play in this event. On the other hand, Matt Fitzpatrick will be the highest-ranked golfer at the event. Joining him would be heavyweights like Ludvig Aberg, Keegan Bradley, and Justin Rose, among many others. Winner of the Sentry 2024 Chris Kirk is also making an appearance at the 2024 Sony Open.
