Following the conclusion of the first round, the 2022 Masters Winner shared his thoughts on the challenges he encountered on Thursday. The current playoffs format led him to start with a two-stroke lead. However, things turned upside down due to his minimal number of three-putts in the initial round.

When asked to define his feelings for the same, Scheffler stated, “I’m obviously pretty frustrated with how I played today.” He openly acknowledged his mishap on the 15th par-3 hole, describing it as a bad swing.

Talking about his lead, he said, “Yeah, it is a bit weird starting a tournament with the lead. I don’t know. It’s definitely an interesting format.”

A look into the Scheffler’s performance in the Tour Championship last year

Scheffler’s performance on the final day of the 2022 Tour Championship was undeniably subpar. He ranked 28th out of 29 in strokes gained from tee to green, and his 3-over finish at East Lake Golf Club was the worst score in the entire field.

Notably, the 73 was Scheffler’s worst result throughout the 10 rounds of scores during the FedEx Cup Playoffs. This exceeded his previous lowest score by two strokes. Unfortunately, due to this, Scheffler tied alongside Sungjae Im for the second position, just one stroke behind Rory McIlroy.
