The 47-year-old could only manage to put up a sub-par performance at the 2023 Hero World Challenge during the first round. Moreover, he was only able to register a score of 3 over 75 as the first day ended, finishing at 18th on the leaderboard. But, as we take a look back at the same, what are the key facts one can gather from his comeback?
1. First and foremost, as the 82X PGA Tour champ himself reviewed his performance on day one, the pro pointed out how he “was rusty, didn’t have my(sic) feels,” as he “hit a lot of shots” in the “tough” conditions. Moreover, Mr. T also revealed how he couldn’t make the finish “the way he needed to” leading to an unfavorable outcome. Adding on, he divulged that the golfer couldn’t commit well to the “middle part of his rounds” all the while confessing to how “sore” he was after the first day.
2. Nevertheless, the recovery that the 15X major champ has made after the accident and the subsequent surgery has been nothing short of a surprise for the fans. The 1997 Masters Tournament winner was earlier seen walking to the golf course without any signs of limping. The fact that he was walking perfectly with much grace ahead of the round did bring a lot of relief to the fans.

3. Lastly, one can’t help but commend the athlete on his “upper body power.” The Hall of Famer was able to rank 10th out of the 20 elite golfers in terms of “driving distance” as he made good use of his swing. Moreover, the professional was able to pull off the commendable feat for someone “who can’t push off his right foot as much as he used to,” all the while hitting his driver for 326 yards during the first 438-yard par-4 hole.
