Golf is a gentleman’s sport, and it has been one since the start. There are many golfers who have been known as the best of their time because of the accolades they have won and been honored with. One such great honor in the golf fraternity is the Grand Slam, which, till date, only a handful of people have been able to win.
So imagine how precious the moment was when all the career grand slam winners came together. Well, all except for one: Tiger Woods. And recently, Gary Player, the golf great, remembered all the honored golfers through old memorabilia and explained why the 15-time major winner was not a part of it!

The career grand slam, or grand slam, is a feat that not quite a few golfers have achieved and will do so in the future as well. The feat is so rare that only a handful of golfers have achieved it. To be precise, just 5.
Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods are the only five golfers in history to have won all the major championships in the course of their illustrious careers. The 87-year-old Gary Player recently shared a photo of all the Grand Slam winners except Tiger Woods on X (formerly known as Twitter).
As the nine-time major champion posted the memorabilia, he wrote that there are not a lot of pictures of all the Grand Slam winners. But he missed one of the five golfers who was not in the photo. Pointing to the five-time Masters winner’s absence from the photograph, Player wrote, “Of course, this was taken before Tiger Woods was born.”
There are very few pictures of the Grand Slam winners together. Of course, this was taken before Tiger Woods was born. I very much hope Rory or Jordan joins our special group in the not-too-distant future. GP pic.twitter.com/H9RwarK6M8

Expressing his wish further about increasing the number of Grand Slam winners, the golf great said that he would wish for Rory McIlroy or Jordan Spieth to join the club, but “in the not-too-distant future.”
Though the milestone of being one of the five grand slam winners is a major one in itself, Woods’ rare ‘Tiger Slam’ is truly regarded as the most exceptional one out of the five.

Woods’ Grand Slam feat is regarded as one-of-a-kind
The 15-time major winner became the youngest Grand Slam winner at the age of just 24. He achieved the accolade in 2000, when he won the Open Championship that year. But he won what we know today as the ‘Tiger Slam’ in 2001. 23 years ago, in 2000, the 82nd PGAT winner finished in fifth place in the Masters but went on to win all three remaining majors that year.
Next year, when he returned to Augusta, he won! His unique feat was named after him, as he won all four majors of men’s golf in the span of 365 days. In total, Woods has won enough of all four majors for three career Grand Slams. Tune in to find out the future career Grand Slam winner as and when it happens!
