LIV golf has been at the receiving end of many an adverse reaction since 2021! From Rory McIlroy to the likes of Viktor Hovland, many have spoken out against the Saudi-backed league. Nevertheless, this time around, it was a professional on the LIV Golf itself who came forward to express his appreciation for the PIF-funded circuit.

The player on the alternate tour took to a podcast, all the while disclosing the secret behind his wins in the league. However, while doing so, he decided to surprisingly provide an “example” drawn from the legend of the game, Tiger Woods, to prove his point no less!

A player needs to maintain a certain schedule to be able to dish out his best performance in a tournament. And, Talor Gooch was also of the same opinion as he alluded to how “the best of the best” golfers used to “rarely” play 30 weeks in a year, during an episode of the podcast Fairway To Heaven.

Continuing with his argument, the 32-year-old bought in the “example” of the 82X PGA Tour champ. The LIV golfer mentioned how Mr. T was “as rested… as anyone for the biggest weeks of the year,” all the while pointing out how the phenomenal player’s schedule would allow him to do so, leading him to “get dialed in” easily.

Adding on, Gooch divulged how the same is what he uses to call his situation in the Saudi-backed league as well. And, he does so since it allows the pro to set not only a “tournament schedule but a practice schedule, and a travel schedule,” while allowing him to be “dialed in” for the days that he is set to play on the course instead of feeling like one is “behind the eight ball.”

What the 32-year-old just said would mean that he was unable to do the same on the PGA Tour. However, when one looks at his accolades in the alternate league, it would seem that the professional’s new schedule after joining the same was more in touch with his rhythm as opposed to the earlier one!

Talor Gooch and his impressive LIV Golf career

If one were to search for the happiest man after the 2023 LIV Golf season, it would have been Gooch. The then RangeGoats GC member managed to emerge victorious at 3 events in the year at Adelaide, Singapore, and Andulacia, followed by a T2 finish at Jeddah. This crowned the golfer as the season-long Individual Champion while raking in a total of more than $36 million in the year, along with a ring.

And now, with the amount of flair that he has displayed on the greens, he managed to get a place in Brooks Koepka’s team, Smash GC, a deal that was finalized a couple of weeks back. Moreover, he was traded for none other than Matthew Wolff, with whom the skipper had issues earlier in the season. And, after what Gooch said about Tiger Woods and being able to get around the schedule in the PIF-funded circuit, it seems he is not yet done with his amazing display of golf. Well, every eye would undoubtedly be on him now!
