“Out of Touch,” not to mention, “insanely overpriced.” That is what the golf world dubbed Tiger Woods’s Sun Day Red products whenever he released a new line. The same was the case when the 15-time major champ’s company launched the ‘Jupiter Collection’ as well. But now, it appears that the golfer’s company marking the prices so high has become the least of their worries. The reason? All thanks to sellers on eBay doing the same, if not higher.
The prices of many Sun Day Red products on the online e-commerce site have been marked much higher than their counterparts on the brand’s official website. For example, the ‘Sun Day Red Tiger Woods Laure Chain Stitch Hoodie’ on the former is marked at $220, while the same product on the official store costs just $135.
Truly a confusing situation for any Woods fan. Meanwhile, that’s not the only apparel that costs more than what is shown on the golfer’s brand’s site. Even a Sun Day Red Cypress Fit Vent Hat is on sale on eBay at $125, while it costs just $50 on the official website. What about the Heritage Classic Stripe Polo? Well, that product is marked at $115 according to the golfer’s brand, while eBay is selling it for $174.99.

Even before the new problem popped up, the golfer’s fans had raised issues about the products being costly. When the ‘Jupiter Collection’ was launched, a fan pointed out how they could find polos on offer at any thrift store for a figure of $3, as opposed to the $120 being asked for purchase.

On the other hand, some followers even compared the prices of Tiger Woods’ brand with that of Nike. Interestingly, some of the clothes that the 82-time PGA Tour champ had released with Nike are still available for the community. And the price? Just below $100! With such dollar amounts assigned to the products, will the Pebble Beach launch have the desired effect?
Tiger Woods launches Sun Day Red shop at Pebble Beach
“For the first time, Sun Day Red is available to shop in person,” announced Woods’s company during the second week of October while launching the pop-up store. “Exclusively at Pebble Beach. Tiger’s connection with Pebble Beach is significant, not only to him, but golf as a whole – and there’s no other place Sun Day Red would choose to have its first retail experience.” The brand sure made the best use of the athlete’s connection with the iconic course to help sell its products.

Is Tiger Woods's brand out of touch with fans by pricing products beyond reach?
Have an interesting take?
Tiger Woods, back in 2000, clinched the first of his three U.S. Open wins at Pebble Beach, not to mention how he also won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am that year. What’s more, his design firm was the main force behind the newly reimagined nine-hole course, The Hay. Sun Day Red seemed eager to use this significant connection to their advantage as they launched the store. But only time will tell if Tiger Woods’s company will make the best use of the pop-up store, as well as the products they sell online.
