The PGA Tour and European Tour’s 2022–23 season is winding down. The last couple of events before the next season will be crucial. Among them, the 3M Open Championship is already on the horizon, scheduled to begin on the 27th of July. The defending champion, along with several coveted golfers, will appear at the charitable event.

The Tour event that started in 2019 in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Minnesota has been hosted by TPC since then. The event provides a unique opportunity for players to earn FedEx points and improve their standing in order to partake in the Ryder Cup.

156 players will partake in the first 36 holes of the 72-hole event. Only 65 of them and those who tie will make the cut into the final two rounds. The pairings will be shuffled for rounds 3 and 4 based on the players’ scores after they make the cut.

The FedEx points allotted to the players will help their rankings on the OWGR as well as their qualification for the Ryder Cup event. The 3M Open is one of the last few events where golfers can earn an effective rank to qualify for auto spots as well as special dispensations for the much-awaited contest between the American and European Tours.
