These players’ actions worried many in the golf world about the future of the Florida event, especially with Honda ending its 43-year partnership with the PGA Tour. But Nicklaus wasn’t among those who were worried about the event. His reason was the 2024 schedule. “We will have players next year,” he stated, revealing how the elevated events would change player participation in the future.

As per the Golden Bear, in 2024, the Florida event wouldn’t be the only event the gap players could take as a rest stop between elevated events. “Next year’s schedule… Pebble and L.A. are their elevated tournaments,” he explained. “Phoenix is not. Then they go to Mexico, then they come here.”
