The last stretch of the PGA Tour’s Florida Swing, the Valspar Championship, is about to begin in just a few hours at the Innisbrook Resort. Will it be 2-time PGA Tour winner Sam Burns this time who takes away the title from defending champion Taylor Moore, or will the greens of the Copperhead Course have a new rising champion this year?

The tournament is to begin on March 21st and go on till March 24th, but with the recent history of delayed rounds in events in Florida Swing, it is hard to predict whether it shall commence or end at its scheduled time. If all goes well, however, the players will begin as early as 7:40 a.m. ET on Thursday!

Like all regular PGA Tour events, the Valspar Championship will see players tee off from the first and tenth holes this week for Thursday and Friday in exceptional pairings of threes. On Thursday, Garrick Higgo, the 2021 Palmetto Champion, will be the first to tee off at 7:35 am, paired with Matt NeSmith and Ben Griffin.

While they tee off from the first, almost simultaneously (just 5 minutes later) on the 10th Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Sam Stevens and Luke Donald Duncan will hit off at the same time! On Friday, these six will take the post-noon tee-off slot.

Notably, the last six of the 156-player field competing this week will only begin play at around 3 p.m. ET. The entire list of pairings and tee times is as below:

The competition on the tour this week is going to be clustered around some of the top players. Even though the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy have chosen to sit out this event, many top OWGR-ranked stars will be playing on the Copperhead Course greens. And it certainly is anyone’s game!

PGA Tour stars who could grab a win this week

While many in the golf world believe Sam Burns has just as good a shot at dethroning Taylor Moore this week as he has at retaining the title, it will not be a cakewalk for either, considering the extensive field. Last week’s PLAYERS’ runner-ups, Brian Harman and Xander Schauffele, who rank 8th and 6th, respectively, on OWGR’s chart, will be on the field too.

Justin Thomas, who has made the cut in all his past 5 appearances at the Valspar Championship and has always ended in the top 20 on Sunday at the event, will also be vying for a win. JT has a lot to prove, especially having missed the cut at the PLAYERS, a reason his friend, World No. 16 Jordan Spieth, can relate to too.
