The golf world will witness a scintillating display of golf this week at the American Express. The third event on the 2024 PGA Tour calendar gears up to kick off on January 18th while continuing until Sunday, January 21st. Meanwhile, hoping to clinch a victory at the tourney across the three diverse courses on the PGA West grounds in La Quinta, California, is the field of 156 players.

Combining the winner’s cut from the $8.4 million prize purse with the points from both FedEx and OWGR would surely push the golfers to try their best. Well, to see such a sporting phenomenon, it’s only natural to wonder when the pros will be teeing it off!

Owing to Jon Rahm’s defection from the PGA Tour, many would be looking to lift the cup, which does not have a defending champion to its name. What’s more, with the number of golfers teeing it off, there would undoubtedly be some favorites for the fans, including the likes of Justin Thomas, who would be playing his first event in 2024 against Rickie Fowler at the La Quinta Country Club.

One of the best in the game and the current No. 1 on the OWGR, Scottie Scheffler, would be paired up against Patrick Cantlay at the La Quinta on Thursday. Following the same, Xander Schauffele would be teeing it off against Tony Finau during the first round at the same grounds, while Will Zalatoris gears up to play the Thursday round against Daniel Berger at the Pete Dye Stadium Course.

The 2024 Sentry Champion, Chris Kirk, would see himself battling it out against Wyndham Clark. Meanwhile, Shane Lowry and Malbon Golf Partner Jason Day would tee it off against each other. However, both pairs of golfers would be doing the same at the La Quinta Country Club.

The group of 156 athletes is all ready to kick it off in California. But even so, one can’t help but become curious as to when their top picks would be playing against each other.
