The 27-year-old’s performance was far from disappointing, as he showcased his remarkable consistency and excellence from tee to green. The six-time PGA Tour winner has been a model of steadiness and reliability in his last 17 events, dating back to March 2023. In the entire span of the 2022-23 season, he won four times, at the Presidents Cup, WM Pheonix Open, Players Championship, and Hero World Challenge.
Last season, Scheffler had 17 top-ten finishes on the Tour, after Vijay Singh’s 18 top-10 finishes in 2005. He has also been the best player in the field in terms of strokes gained from tee to green in almost 2 decades. The golfer gained an average of 2.62 per round and it is the second-best mark ever recorded in 20 years.
The best week of the season came in March at TPC Sawgrass, where he won the PLAYERS Championship. The ball striking at TPC Sawgrass was amazing: he led the field in both driving distance and greens in regulation, which no other PLAYERS champion has ever done.

The short gap of merely less than 400 days between his first and sixth win was the fourth-shortest of the last 60 years. He is now in line behind Tiger Woods (273 days), Jack Nicklaus (322 days) and David Duval (332 days).
