While keeping up with the digital world, the PGA Tour reached the $195 billion streaming giant, Netflix, yet again. After a successful first season that came out this February, ‘Full Swing’ is set to return. Allowing fans to take a whiff of the behind-the-scenes activities of players and the tournament. And a new addition to the list is the upcoming Ryder Cup. However, thanks to Zach Johnson, fans will not get a complete taste of the patriotic event.

The golf world will soon be counting the days left for the Ryder Cup on its fingers. While fans will be able to catch a glimpse of a lot of the behind-the-scenes footage of what goes down in Rome on Netflix in the second season, they won’t be able to catch it all, thanks to Johnson and the rest of the American team’s “approach” for it!

There are two different headlines about the upcoming season of Netflix’s ‘Full Swing.’ The show is all set to feature the 44th edition of the Ryder Cup, commencing in the last week of September in Rome. However, this good part comes with a hint of sadness.

The show has been denied complete access to Marco Simone and will not be able to get footage of many private conversations! And it is the decision of the players themselves. The Associate Press reported that the American team, consisting of the likes of Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, etc., raised concerns over having a camera crew in the team room.

In a conversation with GolfweekCaptain Zach Johnson revealed that he went from player to player discussing the subject. They unanimously voted to have access limited to certain areas. Johnson said, “I was the one that told the PGA of America that we got to tell Netflix that they cannot be in the private areas of Team USA.”

The captain did do away with putting the responsibility of the decision on the 12-player roster, which included the likes of JT and Max Homa. “That message came from talking to all 12 individuals separately, and it was unanimous that this was the approach they wanted. So it was not about me or my opinion.”

Having the Ryder Cup on Full Swing would certainly be a boon for the show. It could explain extensively the thought process captains had behind a particular pairing and other decisions about the game.

It is surprising, however, to see the likes of Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth, who featured heavily in the first season with many intimate moments of their lives, take a call to keep some part of their planning hidden this year.

The Netflix golf hit’s season one vs. its second season

No one thought Justin Thomas would be on the Ryder Cup squad; however, since the skipper picked him, he’ll once again be joining his friends competing in the prestigious event in Rome this year. Since he is part of the squad, he will yet again feature in the Netflix documentary. His last year on the show in reality was a pleasant one, which dove into his second PGA Championship and his relationship with his buddy Spieth.

JT, in fact, looked at that segment as a golf fan himself and wanted to relive his winning moment, even if it was on a screen. Apart from that, by the time the first season of Full Swing appeared, some of the PGA Tour players had already shifted to the LIV league, and the show featured the heavy tensions of that.

While season 1 of the documentary is a recollection and probably the last archive of all the PGA Tour players in one place, season 2 would be a splendid collection of the patriotic showdown. It would undoubtedly be interesting to have a record of either Europe winning once more at home or America creating history!
