Leader since day 1! The line is enough to know whom we are talking about; none other than Scottie Scheffler. The golfer has managed to stay on top of the leaderboard since the start of the Tour Championship. And much of it is thanks to his caddie, Ted Scott. But interestingly, what has captivated the attention of many in the community on Day 3 apart from the golfer’s play was a hilarious move by the looper, using the tee no less!

A video of the same was shared by the PGA Tour on its official social media handles, on both X and Instagram. It showed Scott talking with their pairing partners Collin Morikawa and his caddie, Jonathan ‘JJ’ Jakovac, as Scheffler and his looper found his ball on a rough patch near a tree following his tee shot. However, the 2024 Masters Champ didn’t go ahead with his next approach shot but waited for his bagman to finish what he was doing.

What happened after that? Well, the 28-year-old’s caddie did go ahead and flip the tee. And the result came to be in favor of Morikawa who went ahead to finish the day’s play at a figure of 4-under. Meanwhile, the funny ‘tee’ move by Scottie Scheffler’s looper found itself eliciting a laugh from many fans as one of them even came forward to comment about the same; “Always get a caddie. JS #YCC”

The 2-time Masters champ, on the other hand, finished the day with figures of 5-under 66. This, in turn, allowed him to dominate the leaderboard at T1 with a score of 26-under overall. At the same time, Morikawa placed himself five strokes behind Scheffler at T2, while totaling 21-under overall after three days of play.

Such a performance by the current World No. 1 on the OWGR wouldn’t have been possible if not for the support of his caddie, Ted Scott. With his help, the athlete has raked in as many as 7 wins this season, including a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, making them the richest golfer and caddie duo this season.

The golfer has garnered a total of $27,696,858 in winnings in the 2024 season till the Travelers Championship. As per the caddie payout rate (10% for wins, 7% for top-10, and 5% for outside top-10), Ted Scott was able to earn a sum of $2,633,839. Now, add two more top-10 placements and a T33 finish along with the earnings, and the athlete’s total earnings this season on the circuit come to a whopping $29,228,358.

Scott’s earnings will also increase as a result of the same. A T7 finish at the Open will help him earn $31,628.31, a T4 at FedEx St. Jude will get him $67,200, and a T33 at the BMW Championship will earn him $5,983.35, bringing the total to a mind-boggling $2,738,650. The figure ranks him above many professionals on the circuit making him the richest caddie on Tour this season. Makes sense then, seeing as how the two were in a jolly mood despite finding their spheroid on a rough patch!
