“I think it’s just wild watching Meredith go through that,” exclaimed a surprised Scottie Scheffler ahead of the second major of 2024. He was alluding to the birth of his beautiful baby boy, Bennett Scheffler. The same child with which his wife joined him on the course at the recent victory at the 2024 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. Well, it looks like the golfer himself couldn’t believe everything that was happening.

The 27-year-old was spotted in an interview after his win at the Muirfield Village Golf Club expressing his joy at watching his family join him on the course. He also went ahead to convey his pride for his baby mother all the while attributing his recent victory to his “biggest supporter,” none other than his wife.

“Yeah, it’s pretty surreal,” admitted the 2-time major champ, in a recent presser, as he hinted at how his family accompanied him at the recently ended PGA Tour event. Scheffler also went ahead to mention how he still feels like a student attending Highland Park High School in Texas, all thanks to playing the sport; “I feel like I’ve talked about it a little bit this week, but sometimes I still feel like we’re in high school because I don’t really have a real job. You know, we come out here and play golf.”

The professional, meanwhile, also couldn’t help but dub his wife as his biggest backer. “She is my biggest supporter,” said the champ while hinting at how she was always beside him at the crucial moments (Remember when her pep talk helped Scheffler win the 2022 Masters?). He also said, “Watching her be a mom the last month or so has been really special, and I’m so proud of her.” The duo had welcomed their first child back on May 8, following which, he had teed off at the 2024 PGA Championship, six days later.

The pregnancy, meanwhile, had caused the pro’s wife to be absent from his side for several of the events on the men’s circuit, especially the 2024 Masters. Even so, the athlete didn’t shy away from giving out due credit to his wife. He also indicated his happiness in his family’s presence, this time around, especially with his baby joining him for the first time. “I definitely could not be doing what I do out here on the golf course without her support,” confessed Scheffler before adding, “Having Bennett there today to celebrate, even though he has absolutely no clue what’s going on, but it’s fun for us as parents, and so we’ll always be able to look back fondly on this tournament and Benny’s first week out on the road with us.”

It truly does seem like a special moment for the professional’s family. Especially so when coupled with the fact that he was able to beat the field of golfers to rake in his fifth win at the Memorial Tournament by just a single stroke.

The Americal Pro was able to rake in his 11th PGA Tour win and his fifth victory this season at the Jack Nicklaus-hosted tournament by scoring a scintillating 8-under 280. He did so while keeping himself at the top of the scorecard at all times since the first round, all thanks to his excellent gameplay. This, in turn, helped him dish out a total of 17 birdies and an eagle over the four days.

Along with the birdies, the golfer also carded 8 bogeys and a triple bogey, the last of which came during the par-4, 9th hole on the third round on Saturday. The unfortunate figure, however, wasn’t enough to deny him the cut of $4,000,000 in prize money as well as the 700 FedEx Points that he won as a result of his triumph.
