Camped in Mississippi for the Sanderson Farms Championship, Ludvig Aberg is arguably the most-known star in the field. Speaking in the press conference ahead of it, Aberg spoke about his pairing with Viktor Hovland.
When he mentioned Viktor Hovland, he spoke highly of him. “Then obviously for me, like, why wouldn’t you want to play with arguably one of the best players in the world, and he doesn’t miss a shot?”
Prior to this, answering a question about what was the most memorable moment for him in the Ryder Cup, he mentioned his Saturday morning win playing alongside Ludvig Aberg. Ironically, in that match, they were playing against Brooks Koepka and OWGR rank 1 Scottie Scheffler.
The Aberg-Hovland pair had won their first match together, against Max Homa and Brian Harman, on Friday as well. It makes one wonder what made Saturday’s win more special for the 23-year-old. Perhaps it was the fact that they beat arguably two of the top-class golfers in the world! Regardless, one thing was undeniable: the Hovland-Aberg pairing gelled well. And the reason behind that was heartwarming.

Following the question about the memorable experience, Aberg was asked about what made the combination work so well, apart from the obvious Scandinavian connection. The young star explained how two instances helped them bond before the Ryder Cup.
The first was the team trip they took earlier, and the second was the week they spent together playing the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Aberg moreover acknowledged how the language factor also definitely made things easier for him to bond with Hovland.
The pair played three matches together in this Ryder Cup. As mentioned above, they won t. Unfortunatelty, the thrid was where they faced defeat at the hands of Sam Burns and Collin Morikawa on Saturday evening!
