Tiger Woods has been absent from competitive golf. And the hiatus seems never-ending. But his presence in the headlines is the same as ever. But more than him, what’s currently making the news are items associated with the fifteen-time major winner.

Golf is a physically exhausting sport. Often, players have complained of back, leg, and elbow injuries. And some are even severe, like the one with Tiger Woods. Since the 2023 Masters, he has been away. And while that has caused a big upset with the fans, it seems like his absence has helped Woods’ value become known in the golf world—in terms of money as well!

The first major Woods event was in 1997. It’s been 26 years since that feat. And since then, he has mastered many. During that tournament, he handed his ball to a young boy. And earlier in April this year, it was auctioned for more than $64,000.

In a similar instance, Golf Digest on Twitter (X) posted one of his putters. And asked the fans, “What would you pay for one of Tiger’s putters?” Under the caption, along with the putter, there is a price. The current auction bid for Wood’s “personally used Scotty Cameron Prototype 1196 Teryllium Putter is $30,579.” The putter was recently sold on September 9, when the auction closed. And the last bid that won was worth $53,725.20.

It has a hand-stamped imprint of dancing alphabets that spell ‘Tiger’ on the toe. Along with ‘Proto’ and ‘XXX’ on reverse bumpers. Scotty Cameron also included a hidden message while letting go of the putter. In the Certificate of Authenticity from Scotty Cameron, the last 5 digits of the certificate (84437) spell ‘Tiger’ on the phone.

Earlier, a Scotty Cameron Teryllium Newport Model that the golfing legend used during the 1998 PGA Tour season was sold for a blistering $221,376. The money was then donated to the Andre Reed Foundation.

And not only that, but even his backup putters sell for eye-watering prices. Woods did not use a Scotty Cameron Newport II model. But it was present in his collection. And during the auction, the unused putter was sold for a whopping $328,576. Another backup last year, in August, was bought for $393,300. The shocking prices shed much light on Tiger Woods’ influence in the golfing world. That influence is even reflected in his being somewhat of an ‘unofficial vice captain’ in the 2023 Ryder Cup!

Zach Johnson revealed that Tiger Woods is very much in touch with them. And in the know of everything. In a way, they have an unofficial vice captain for their American team. Johnson also revealed that Tiger wishes to join the squad at the Marco Simone club, but he can’t do so physically.
