A true golf fan would jump at the chance to watch a whole tournament live. However, this time around, every enthusiast of the game would end up disappointed. Why, you ask? The chief of referees of the PGA Tour shared his game plan for the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am not too long ago. Surprisingly, it seems the event might end after 54 holes.
Well, a report poked its head up a while back, mentioning how there is a chance for the second signature event on the 2024 PGA Tour calendar to move on to Monday. However, the question naturally arises: what would happen if the extreme weather conditions obstruct Monday’s play as well?

Gary Young, the circuit’s referee, made known the current plans for the final day of the event, mentioning how the “course & conditions will be assessed tomorrow morning at 5 AM PST.” Following the inspection, the golfers who are part of the field would be notified by 5:15 AM PST, as per reports. If the game is still delayed, then an update would be shared by 9:30 AM PST, following which the round would reportedly start after noon, bar spectators.
But if no play takes place on Sunday due to the extreme weather conditions at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, then the final day would supposedly be shifted to Monday. Moreover, the game would have to “start by 10:15 local time to complete the final round,” as per reports. Now, if the PGA Tour can successfully complete the finale, then, NO, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am would not become a 54-hole event. However, if they are unable to finish the same, then YES, the signature event would end after 54 holes.
Meanwhile, there is a very high chance of the play extending to Monday owing to the weather predictions that were made a while ago. The reports indicate “sustained winds of 35–40 mph and gusts of 60+… in the forecast.” What’s more, it would be accompanied by 2-3″ of rain as well, as per sources, painting a bleak picture for tomorrow’s play.

Implications of the event ending after 54 holes
Wyndham Clark, the man of the hour on Saturday, would emerge as the champion if the tournament ends at 54 holes. Interestingly, his unforgettable round of 12-under-60 would have become what was needed to card him his 3rd PGA Tour title as well as a $3.6 million winner’s cut without hitting another shot on the final day.
