With his CJ Cup win on Sunday, Rory McIlroy claimed the throne of World number one in the World Golf Rankings. However, even in his biggest feat, the Northern Irish star was asked about his thoughts on LIV Golf, which has become a recurrence in every press conference. Though McIlroy is not a fan of the lucrative series as a whole, the one person who has gotten into a personal feud with him from the Tour is none other than the CEO, Greg Norman, himself.

Both Norman and McIlroy have publicly criticized each other in several occurrences in the past. The LIV chief criticized the European golfer for being “hypocritical” for leaving the European Tour to join the PGA Tour.

Rory Mcllroy clapped back at the Shark with several jibes over the months. However, his most recent came in South Carolina following his 23rd professional win.

In recent weeks, McIlroy’s stance on LIV Golf has gotten a lot softer. He believes both PGA Tour and LIV Invitational series must come to a consensus, as the ongoing feud would “fractured sport for a long time”. However, when it comes to speaking on the LIV Commissioner, McIlroy still has the same thoughts.

He further added, “I think he hides behind ‘force for good’ and all that stuff … this has been his dream for 30 years and he has finally found people who can fund that dream”. Rory McIlroy also claimed that Saudi Arabia’s entry into the sport of golf is totally fine. However, he believes that they aren’t guided properly, especially when it comes to spending money.

The LIV Golf’s flashy prize money has been one of the Tour’s most vital weapons against the PGA Tour. The lucrative Tour is set to end its inaugural season with a team event in Miami, with a record $50 million purse. Though McIlroy has softened with the Saudi-funded Tour, it is unclear when will he decide to squash the feud with Greg Norman.
