“It’s a great club. It’s versatile,” said a satisfied Rory McIlroy when talking about his TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver Copper 13.5 degrees. Well, one can’t blame the golfer for changing his club after a disappointing T22 finish at the recently concluded Masters Tournament. More so when he only managed a 4-over par after Sunday, when Scottie Scheffler, the champ, made 11-under.
But then again, the question naturally arises; Which one did the golfer who is allied to TaylorMade replace? Look no further. The new equipment took the place of his TaylorMade Qi10 3-wood which he had relied on at Augusta National. That’s not all, McIlroy had even gone ahead to express his belief in being able to use the club in the future.

Recounting his experience after the practice round on Friday during the RBC Heritage, McIlroy mentioned how he experimented with the different clubs in his bag. Adding on, he said, “I was hitting 5-wood off the tee, and then there was a couple of holes where I hit mini in the practice round, then hit driver because the wind was into. But it’s a great club. It’s versatile. I’m sure I’ll use it quite a bit over these next few days.”
Coming to his driver, the professional still uses the TaylorMade Qi10 9.0° driver attached to a Ventus Black 6X shaft. Marked at $599.99, the club has been made in such a way that the athlete can improve their distance while helping reduce bad swings or poor contact with the ball.
Although he started using the Mini driver in place of the 3-woods, the 34-year-old hasn’t changed his 5-wood yet. He depends on the Qi10 5-wood, costing $349.99, coupled with the Ventus Black 9X shaft, or at times changes to the P·760 3-iron with a Project X 7.0 shaft depending on the need. Meanwhile, the former of the two has an ultra-high MOI construction along with proper weight distribution in its head.

Aside from the P760 3-irons, the 4-time major champ depends on the P·760 4-iron attached to the Project X 7.0 and the Rors Proto Irons, coupled with the same shaft, for his 5-irons to the 9-irons. The clubs boast SpeedFoam technology and are marked at $1,399.99. Consequently, this gives the golfers a clean and precise feel when it comes to making shots.
Has McIlroy made any changes to his wedges or putters?
When it comes to McIlroy’s wedges, he has, for a long time, relied on the Milled Grind 4 (46° SB, 50° SB, and 54° SB), which has a Project X 6.5 shaft along with the Milled Grind 4 (60° LB) coupled with the Project X 6.5 Wedge. Each club costs $179.99 while utilizing the laser-etched Spin Tread along with a raw face, allowing better landing around the greens.

When it comes to his putters, the Northern Irishman uses the Spider Tour X attached to the SuperStroke Pistol Tour as opposed to the Scotty Cameron T-5.5 Proto putter, which he had been relying on back in 2023. To top it all off, he uses the new club, which costs $349.99, to putt his TP5x Golf Ball which is worth $54.99. Thus, his fans would surely be hoping for some changes in the rest of the events, especially after making the small change in his golfing essentials.
