Sam Burns has won the Charles Schwab Challenge hosted by the Colonial Golf Course from May 27 to 29. The golfer won it after battling in a playoff. Interestingly, Justin Thomas won the PGA Championship a week before in a playoff as well. However, the most interesting fact is that it is not the only similarity the two golfers share in winning the event.
Burns had a 7-shot deficit from the leader of the field when he began playing the final round. However, to the surprise of everyone, he scored a 5-under 65 on Sunday, making him one of the two leaders along with Scottie Scheffler. He won his fourth PGA Tour victory by bagging the Charles Schwab Challenge title.

The golfers who won in a similar fashion as Sam Burns and Justin Thomas
According to reports, the last time golfers won similarly in consecutive weeks, erasing 7 or more deficit, happened back in 2012.
Justin Thomas came from 7 shots back last week. Sam Burns was 7 back to begin today.
Last time there were back-to-back comeback wins of 7+ shots on the PGA Tour: 2012 — Snedeker at Torrey Pines, then Kyle Stanley in Phoenix.

Stanley had a 7-shot lead from Snedeker at the Farmers Open after the third round. And he was in a deficit of 8-shot the following week at the Phoenix Open. His 6-under 65 in the last round was enough for him to claim the title over Spencer Levin.
Notably, Levin had a 6-shot lead over Stanley going into the final round and ended as a runner-up with a 2-shot short.
Fans’ reaction to the rare facts
Since the rarity of the event is too much, the fans found the fact fascinating. They also found it interesting how much of a fight the golfers have to give in the final to get their respective victories.

That’s an A++ level anecdote……The odd thing is that if you asked me on Saturday night of each tournament if anyone was even capable of pulling that off, my answers would’ve been JT and Burns, respectively

As the fact is hard to find out, fans mostly applauded Justin Ray, who shared it with the golf world.
