At the recent 2023 Notah Begay III National Championship, Charlie Woods displayed an exemplary performance, ending the event by scoring an 8ft. putt on the last hole. He grabbed the title in the 14-15 division with a staggering score of 66. Serving as his caddie, Tiger Woods is expected to play an important role in the young golfer’s budding techniques.

Per the interview with Charlie post the victory, he commented on having his dad with him on the field. He said, “He’s good, we just stay in our own little world and we just take it one shot at a time.” Though, with a small chuckle, the rising star was quick to add, “puts me in my place.

The legendary golfer has a simple technique for Charlie to follow. To focus on the hole that he is playing on rather than wondering about the next tee shot. This comment of Charlie takes the mind back to a similar comment Tiger Woods had made about his own father and role model, Earl Woods.

In a past interview, the 15-time major winner had divulged about his dad, emphasizing the importance of discipline being a military man. His theory of “looking eye-to-eye” was something Tiger Woods wanted to carry forth with his own children. And here, it seems to have been initiated with his teenage son.

Though the comparisons continue to be drawn within the Woods clan, it is a recent display of skills of Charlie that has been the true stealer of the limelight.

Last year, Charlie Woods, carded a 68 as he showed his skills at the national level. This year, the octaves of his caliber have multiplied even more, as he scored a brilliant round of 66. Woods said, “I just took it one shot at a time… don’t think too far ahead,” not only reiterating his dad Tiger Woods’ golden words but also voicing an effective approach. The results spoke in favor of this mindset as the final round of Charlie carded one birdie after the other, summing up to more than six birdies.
