There’s never a dull day in the golf world, is there? Round 4 of the 2024 Wyndham Championship is ongoing at the Sedgefield Country Club, and we’ve seen some serious action since the tournament started. Luke Clanton is currently in the top having shot 62 in the third round. But will he be able to win the turning point of a tournament? Chances are unlikely.
Clanton was supposed to finish this tournament on Sunday as usual, which he will be doing now as well, and then compete in the U.S. Amateur the next day; however, that doesn’t seem possible anymore because of the PGA Tour’s risky plans. Well, he still could and most probably will tee off in the latter event, but he sure would be tired.
The schedule for the current PGA Tour tournament is proving hard for the golfer as he not getting enough sleep. “Knew I was on the cutline and the sleeping was not great, cause I knew I had three more holes that are pretty tough”, said the golfer in an interview with the PGA Tour.

Talking about his birdie on the ninth hole, the golfer said, “To Bridie 9 was pretty sweet, I was trying to get it down there within a couple of feet and it dropped.” But that is not enough for him to win the tournament. Golfers will be playing 39 holes on Sunday so that the tournament does not have a Monday finish. This makes the case harder for Clanton, as he has another tournament to play tomorrow. If Luke Clanton goes into a playoff, it could potentially stretch into Monday. Fortunately, he has a later tee time at the U.S. Amateur, scheduled for 2:09 p.m. CDT.

Luke Clanton’s later tee time of 2:10 p.m. CDT may provide a slight advantage in terms of giving him some time to rest and freshen up. Who will the golfer tee off with on the grounds of Hazeltine National Golf Club and Chaska Town Course in Chaska, Minnesota?

Luke Clanton in the Wyndham Championship—bold move or a recipe for disaster?
Have an interesting take?
Luke Clanton is kind of a hero on the field for amateur golfers. And that is the reason why he is currently ranked 3rd on the World Amateur Golf Ranking. But this event is not going to be easy for Clanton as the fatigue from the previous tournament will surely kick in. Clanton is paired with the current world’s No. 1 Gordon Sergent and the world’s No. 2 Jackson Koivun. What a pairing, right?
This year’s tournament also features PGA Tour Pro John Daly’s John Daly II. Daly II is paired up with Tyson Shelley and Colin Summers at 9:01 a.m. CDT. With a pairing like this, one can only expect jam-packed action at the event. So, who do you think will be able to ace the amateur event? Will it be Clanton, Sargent, Koivun, or perhaps a dark horse like Daly II? Let us know in the comment section below!
