Garrick Higgo made headlines with his victory at the Corales Puntacana Championship, marking his first win since the 2021 Palmetto Championship at Congaree. It was a long-awaited victory that ended his winless streak. But what truly surprised fans wasn’t just his return to the winner’s circle—it was something unexpectedly related to his sponsors. Well, he doesn’t have any. That’s right.

After winning the Corales Puntacana Championship, Garrick Higgo was on the Dan On Golf show. Dan first talked about the golfer’s long, curly hair. While doing so, he also noticed Higgo wearing a normal Boston hat. To this, he asked, “The Boston hat is out here to stay as well?” The golfer had a shocking answer for this. He said, “Might as well, yeah. I don’t have any sponsors, so this one is good in the wind.”

However, Dan was certain that Higgo might get some sponsorship after his win at the Corales Puntacana Championship. Going back, Higgo wore a Titleist hat when he won for the first time on the PGA Tour in 2021. However, things changed after February 2025, and since then, he has been wearing the hats and clothes of his choice.

Higgo also talked about it last week and said, “I’ve got so many different hats. My favorite one, I guess, is my Detroit Tigers, one that I’ll probably wear tomorrow. I don’t have a hat deal, so I just wear what I want. I don’t have a clothing deal, I just do what I want, I guess.” However, this freedom to wear anything might soon come to an end — and for all the right reasons. Dan predicted the golfer could attract numerous sponsors after his win, and fans seem to agree.

Just like Garrick Higgo, there are a lot of talented golfers out there. This fan talked about it and said, Is there something to this no sponsorship story we just don’t know? There are so many no-name journeymen who’ve never won who have a sponsor.” Even for Higgo, no one was aware that he didn’t have any sponsors unless the golfer mentioned it himself at the Corales Puntacana Championship. The 25-year-old remains unfazed by the fact of not having sponsors and says that he can wear whatever he wants on the greens. One fan joked about it and hilariously asked, What’s he rocking next week? Well, he might wear a hat from a sponsor next week, who knows?
