It’s been an exciting week for golf fans, full of jaw-dropping moments. On Thursday, Jake Knapp made history with the 15th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history. Over on the DP World Tour, Dale Whitnell took things to another level by hitting TWO holes-in-one on Friday. And if that wasn’t enough, Netflix dropped the third season of Full Swing—talk about entertainment overload! But then came Shane Lowry’s moment on Friday afternoon at PGA National.

While it wasn’t as dramatic as the other feats this week, it was certainly one to remember. Lowry, playing alongside his TGL teammate Min Woo Lee, pulled off back-to-back hole-outs during the second round of the Cognizant Classic. And in true Lowry fashion, he couldn’t resist bringing a little fun into the mix, celebrating his shot with a playful “Dr. Chipinski” routine, something Lee had to laugh at. It’s not every day you see something like that on the PGA Tour!

When he was asked about the fun and banters made at him for the chip shots, he said, “We have done that on Friday and I noticed they did at that tonight. I think it’s quite disrespectful to do someone else’s celebration. But maybe we’ll have the last laugh.” Sahith Theegala chipped in a birdie on the 12th hole to seal Los Angeles Golf Club’s 4-0 run over The Bay Golf Club, giving them a 4-3 lead. After that, he made fun of him and hit Lowry with yeh cell phone ‘Celly’. And well, it was not taken that well. During the post-round presser, Theegala was asked if it was done to just make fun, or if it was something else.

To this, he replied, “A bit of both for sure. I think I speak for these guys, too. Min Woo is a great dude. What he’s doing for golf is awesome, and he’s just such a fun guy to follow on the golf course, on social media. He’s bringing — whenever I play with him and even around him, I hear all the “Min” chants and “let him cook” and “Dr. Chipinsky.” It was to give a little poke. I figured it would fire them up. I saw Collin doing it again when Tommy chipped in. He’s a good friend, and you can poke the bear with a good friend like that. It was all in good fun, but a little bit of a blow.”

Well, Theegala had a valid point there. Only make fun of your opponents, when you can take back the mockery.

Sahith Theegala says Shane Lowry should be ready to take back mockery

Before the TGL kicked off, Shane Lowry sent a warning to the other teams, posting a message on Bay GC’s social media. Representing his team, which included Ludvig Åberg, Min Woo Lee, and Wyndham Clark, the Irishman boldly declared they were “coming” for their opponents. However, in a funny moment, he almost forgot to name his full lineup. The 2019 Open champion said, “I look forward to seeing you in Florida, but watch out because myself, Ludvig, Min Woo, and, uh… Wyndham is coming to get you.”

As the video wrapped up, Bay GC’s logo dropped from the background, and Lowry flinched, adding, “F— sake,” in his signature humorous style. Taking to this, Sahith Theegala added, “If you’re going to be doing that stuff, you’ve got to be ready to take it, as well. So we’re going to dish it back. It’s just the fun of it. I think it’s another thing that TGL kind of allows us to do. It’s kind of difficult to do that on a week-to-week basis on the PGA TOUR.” Alongside, he also added that it was all done in a funny sense. He has nothing but love for Shane Lowry. They are all competitors, and no one wants to lose.
