What does Cameron Young have on Jay Monahan? The 27-year-old is currently in Hawaii playing in The Sentry 2025. He has been performing well so far with a score of 18-under par 201 in the first three rounds of the event.

The last 6 holes of the penultimate day were quite eventful for Youn as he managed to score 4 birdies and 2 bogeys to add -5 to his total. However, considering his current run, it won’t come as a surprise if he finishes in the top 10 on the leaderboard.

Speaking of the leaderboard and Cameron Young, fans have spotted something peculiar about the professional golfer on the scoresheet. It seems that unlike every other player participating in the tournament, Young has his full name spelled out on the leaderboard on the course and the television presentation.

The same was pointed out by Shane Ryan; an acclaimed author and golf writer, on his X account. The tweet featured a screenshot of the Third Round leaderboard of The Sentry 2025, where every other player had their last name as their identifier. However, only Cameron Young seemed to have his complete name written on it.

The tweet was captioned, “I want the story behind why “Cameron Young” has his full name on this leaderboard. No other “Youngs” in the field, not a “we had the space” rationale because then Tom Hoge would be there too. No obvious explanation. Thinking this goes right to the top.” This highlighted how it was not necessary to put Cameron Young’s entire name on the board as there was no valid reason to do so.

Since the post was shared a few hours ago, it has already received a lot of comments, most of them from golf enthusiasts. The fans are both, perplexed and amused by the odd choice made by Jay Monahan’s PGA Tour.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Cameron Young's full name on the leaderboard a sign of favoritism or just a funny oversight?

This begs to question, does Cameron Young have some dirt on the commissioner? Or is Monahan displaying favoritism for Cameron in the PGA Tour, by trying to imitate Greg Norman’s admiration for Cameron Smith? Let’s see what else the fans had to say.

Is Cameron Young special?

Well, fans certainly believe that Cameron Young does seem to have someone from the PGA Tour headquarters on speed dial. Maybe that’s why @MorningJoeBets said, “He threatened to go to LIV and Monahan countered with full name on the leaderboard and post round mints,” suggesting that Young is blackmailing Monahan for a switch to the PIF league. Although, @aolemailaddress’s comment “That’s his street name that he got growing up in NY,” also doesn’t sound ridiculous considering the pro golfer’s upbringing in Scarborough.

@JMolaghan’s “It’s for the people who have bet him outright for the last two years waiting for that big win. It’s a way of letting them know they have problems, similar to an AA meeting,” suggests that Cameron Young has a crazy fan following of serial gamblers who need to see his full name before placing their bets. @jessicahadwin had something different to suggest as they shared an image of an alternate version of the name being used on the golf leaderboard in the past with the comment, “Young Cam was too edgy.” We definitely agree with her; Young Cam seems more of a street name than Cameron Young.

All the jokes aside, @BrendanHanley’s comment actually had some reasoning behind the situation, “He probably registered himself with his full name as his last name on the application form and this is the result 🤣😂,” which does make sense and puts Cameron Young responsible for his own doing.
