The inaugural Creators Classic is here! And with it, a total of 16 content creators, including Paige Spiranac, teeing it off to find the best golfer among them. But for Xander Schauffele, all of this, including the idea of social media influencing, seems like an enigma of sorts.Thee golfer came out candid about the same ahead of the upcoming Creators Classic event.
The 30-year-old was spotted in an interview on August 27, Tuesday, at the East Lake Golf Club when he was faced with a query regarding the rise of golf influencers as opposed to players. Replying to the question, Schauffele swiftly pointed out how he was “probably the wrong person to ask for that question,” while adding, “It’s just not my jam.”
“As I get older I’ve sort of learned that I’m a little more traditional,” divulged the pro, “Maybe more blue collar. I’m not really big on social media.” Interestingly, Xander Schauffele has just 450K followers on Instagram while Bryson DeChambeau, who is very active on social media, boasts 1.6 million followers.

But even though the athlete wasn’t big on the idea of influencing, he did appreciate the work the content creators put in for the sport. “I think influencers work really hard to put out content,” pointed out the 2-time major champ while adding how he could never do it personally, “I know it’s a lot of work to do it and it’s tiring, and things like that.” He also compared himself to the influencers while adding, “My message was always in the dirt, and for them, it’s pumping out content and putting their face out there and doing their thing.”
Xander Schauffele, meanwhile, also disclosed his thoughts on the effect of influencing in the sport of golf. “If it’s going to bring more eyeballs to golf, I think it’s a good thing,” added the pro before expressing how he would be bad at it if it was up to him; “But the whole sort of social media influencer thing, I’m going to leave it to everyone else that’s my age or a little younger because they’re just way better at it.” However, when it comes to golf, the 30-year-old would surely top the content creators at the game, especially Paige Spiranac, who hasn’t played competitively in almost 8 years.
