John Daly's career change—Is this the comeback story golf needs right now?

John Daly is unstoppable. Remember how he released Drunken Up earlier this year? Well, the golfer just dropped a new music album and one can’t help but feel excited. After all, he released it amidst his injury woes.

The music video release comes just days after the release of his ‘Break 50’ video with Bryson DeChambeau. Yes, both the golfers collaborated for the episode and it was filmed at the Old Hickory Country Club. But back to Daly, the senior athlete is quite satisfied with his music career.

He shared a story on his Instagram handle, which showed how elated he was about it. It also included a link to his new album, Country Boy, on both Spotify and Apple Music. “New Album Drop!!” shared the golfer, “Hope yáll love it! Just a Country Boy doin’ what he loves.”

The newest drop makes it the 5-time PGA Tour Pro’s fifth musical album and his second one in 2024. Interestingly, his first came in 2002, when the American released My Life under the label ‘Scream Marketing’. He followed it with ‘I Only Know One Way’ in 2010 and ‘Whiskey & Water’ in 2022.

However, the golfer has been struggling with injuries. Remember how he withdrew from The Open Championship at Royal Troon last month? A knee injury was responsible for this.

“Disappointed on missing out @TheOpen b/c of a knee injury. watching from afar isn’t the same, but know I tried my heart out to get thru it. Was at physio this morning and made the decision to ice & rest it! Thk u to all my fans and @RandA for a week @RoyalTroonGC #IliotibialBandSyndrome,” he wrote on X. In May, he also suffered a thumb injury in Kentucky and pulled out from the PGA Championship.

While his injury woes have been disappointing for fans, his music career seems to be entertaining them. Here’s one interesting fact about his music career.

When John Daly performed in the same venue as The Beatles!

Back in 2006, the golfer performed on the eve of The Open. He provided back-up vocals to Kid Rock. But what was interesting about the place? Well, it took place at the Cavern Club. That’s the same stage where The Beatles were discovered. Fans were definitely surprised to see him perform there.

In fact, he ended up with his own brick. What does this mean? Well, the Club has its own The Cavern Wall of Fame, where famous people who have performed at the venue have their names engraved on the club’s bricks. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Adele, and Arctic Monkeys have their bricks there.

So, the question is: Does Daly admire The Beatles? In 2014, when The Open returned to Liverpool, the golfer reflected on his performance at the Cavern Club and stated, “Oh hell yeah. I love The Beatles.”

“I played a song or two on stage and that was pretty cool. I just loved seeing all the names that have performed there. If you’re a music junkie like I am, it’s great to think of the history.”
