As always, the Muirfield Village Golf Club will be hosting the Memorial Tournament from today onwards. Since only hours remain from the first golfer to take his first tee shot, the golf world will be busy trying to predict the winners. In fact, the former professional golfer Paige Spiranac has already revealed who she thinks will claim the title this year.

“Muirfield Village typically has one of the strongest fields on tour each year,” Spiranac stated. The former professional golfer turned social media influencer shared her thoughts about the 2022 Memorial Tournament through Twitter.

“Jon Rahm is looking for redemption,” she said in the video. “Patrick Cantlaly is looking to repeat, and Rory McIlroy is looking for his first win,” she added.

Last year, Rahm had all the potential to win the event with a six-stroke lead in three rounds. However, he had to withdraw from the tournament after getting a COVID-19 positive result. The golfer had been testing every day as he had come in contact with another with the virus. The confirmation came while the golfer was playing the 18th hole on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Patrick Cantlay won the event in a playoff against Collin Morikawa. Both scored an overall score of 275 after four rounds. Additionally, the golfer became the 7th golfer to win multiple times on the Muirfield Village Golf Club and the third Jack Nicklaus Award winner to win the Memorial Tournament.

On the other hand, the world No. 8 Rory McIlroy has never won at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. Since his first start at the event in 2010, the golfer has finished four times in the top-10. Spiranac believes the Irish golfer is likely to win the 2022 event.

“A par 72 playing 7533 yards is a demanding course that is bold and long,” she further stated. “…and the players must do everything well, tee to green.”

Notably, the veteran golfer Jack Nicklaus designed the Muirfield Village golf course. He is also the founder of the Memorial Tournament, as he wanted the Ohio-based golf course to be part of something special. Interestingly, he has won the event twice in his career.
