This coming weekend, the PGA Tour has much to offer the golf world. With both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the 2024 Puerto Rico Open lined up to take place from March 7th to March 10th, the golf fraternity is definitely in for an array of surprises. It turns out that a mix of shocks and surprises has already started.
One such major shock is the abrupt withdrawal of Jimmy Walker and Greg Chalmers from Puerto Rico Open. Chalmers got the chance to play for the Monday Q round of Cologuard Classic by Exact Sciences in Puerto Rico wherein he shot a -5(67) and made it to the Champions Tour for the first time. Chalmers and Walker will be replaced by Derek Ernst and Derek Lamely to set the field at its full capacity. Greg Chamlers’s elated update rules out any injury related WDs but same cannot be said for Walker.

But this cannot be completely negated, as a series of withdrawals have previously translated into the PGA Tour’s losses, talent-wise. While the exact reason behind the decision by these WD’d candidates remains unsolved, the impetus to make assumptions seems to be on the rise for many.
