Despite declining LIV Golf’s offers on several occasions, Hideki Matsuyama has recently been involved in rumors of a switch once again. However, following his precedence of choosing the PGA Tour again and again, the Japanese pro has once again maintained his position on the PGA Tour.
Interestingly, this time around, Matsuyama put an end to rumors of his defection to the other side of the golf camp in style. But what was so interesting about the famous pro’s recent turndown to the PIF-backed league?
How did Hideki Matsuyama turn the ‘Flying’ rumors down?

This is not the first time that the Japanese sensation has eradicated any doubts about him moving LIV-wards. His recent declaration has given fans respite amidst the storm of several major names rumored to change alliances. The 8x PGA Tour Champ’s decision to commit to the WM Phoenix Open once again turns out to be all the affirmation his fans needed to know that he is here to stay.
The WM Phoenix Open is scheduled from February 8th till February 11th and is set to be hosted at the TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Course) in Arizona. The People’s Open has been one of Matsuyama’s best courses. He has been a 2x Champ of the famous event, which puts sustainability at its core.
This news was confirmed when Tracking Hideki, an account of X dedicated to providing updates about the 2021 Masters champion, wrote, “OFFICIAL: Hideki has committed to the WM Phoenix Open once again this year!”

This has reaffirmed that the 31-year-old has not taken up Phil Mickelson’s offer to “fly” with him and his LIV Golf team, HyFlyers. Rejecting an onboarding contract worth hundreds of millions of dollars, the Tohoku Fukushi University graduate is determined to play and expand his over $44 million career earnings on the Tour.

Potential additions to LIV Golf
Out of the top 50 golfers in the world, two are reported to accept LIV Golf’s major money deals and move LIV-wards. These players are World No. 39, Adrian Meronk, and World No. 16 Tyrrell Hatton.

Both of these players are absent from the Farmers Insurance field. While there have been reports confirming the Polish man’s decision to join Jon Rahm in the Saudi-backed league, Hatton’s move has not been confirmed yet. However, it is believed that he is, in fact, close to making a call in favor of the LIV Golf League.
