Team FiNelly's back! Can their fun spirit overcome Nelly's recent setback and shine on the course?

Not the best of times for Nelly Korda? Not that hard to disagree. Especially after her recent health issue resulted in her withdrawal from the next two LPGA Tour events. But don’t be too “disappointed” like how the female golfer was back then. The reason? Well, it is all thanks to the recent video she posted on her social media alongside Tony Finau. Yeah, you’re right! Team FiNelly is back!

Remember the team the two golfers made up? Who wouldn’t, to be frank?! Especially after capturing everyone’s hearts during the 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational. Now, coming back to the present, the female athlete, alongside Finau and the LPGA-PGA Tour co-sanctioned event, took to share a quick and fun session of “This or That” between the two. And boy, was it a fun video. “Some tough picks in this round of this or that!” wrote the female pro as she shared the post. “Had a blast getting Team #FiNelly back together. Watch to see all our answers!”

Curious about what they asked each other? Here are some questions that they threw amongst themselves, not to mention their responses to the same. Korda: “Pickles or Olives?” Finau – “Golly, pickles for sure.” What about the LPGA Tour Pro? What would she choose when it comes to “guacamole or salsa?” For that, she needed a bit of time as she thought for a while before replying, “Hmm… Guac.”

The two golfers sure do know how to have a fun time, be it on the course or off of it. Although the Nelly Korda-Tony Finay duo did finish T4 last year, they did so while having the best of times on the course. Hopefully, they do that this year as well. But for now, the community was all about the recent video that they dropped.

Nelly Korda and Tony Finau’s video amuse golf fans

“Tiburon’s front nine or back nine?” asked Korda, to which Finau swiftly responded, “Ooh! Back nine. Love it.” A fan, meanwhile, couldn’t help but agree with them as they commented, “Always the back9. The front 9 is the warm-up.” Interestingly enough, it’s not a surprise that the fan, along with the PGA Tour Pro, would choose the same. And to understand why, take a look at Team FiNelly’s 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational run. The two, together, could only card a total of 10 birdies on the front nine while the back nine, on the other hand, witnessed a total of 13 birdies, not to mention an eagle.

Have an interesting take?

That’s not all. As a result of the performance that they put up on the first two days, the Nelly Korda-Tony Finau duo managed to claim the T2 spot for themselves during the same. However, come the final round, they could only score five birdies, resulting in Team FiNelly dropping down to T4. Even so, none would deny them the impressive performance that was dished out, for a follower responded with the same, after the recent video came out, “This team right here 👍👍.”

One of the questions that the 2024 Chevron Championship winner asked the PGA Tour Pro was to choose between “Caddyshack or Happy Gilmore.” His reply? “Happy Gilmore,” without an ounce of regret in his decision. Seems like a fan disagreed with the golfer as they replied, “Caddyshack Tony come on.” Maybe the admirer might have been a Michael O’Keefe fan instead of an Adam Sandler one. Oh Boy, better not say anything to Shooter McGavin!

“Unfortunately, I’ve had to withdraw from the LPGA events in Korea and Malaysia due to a minor neck injury I sustained while practicing.” This was what Nelly Korda wrote in her Instagram update as she shared a story expressing her disappointment. “I’m currently resting and working with my team to get better. Thank you for all your support; it truly means the world to me.” Surprisingly, one could spot the support that she mentioned on her social media handle even under the recent video that she might have recorded before her injury. A fan wished her, “I’m sorry you had to withdraw from a couple of tournaments in Asia Nelly! Get well soon.”

Impressed with the recent video? Well, you’re not alone. A follower on Instagram took to point it out as they mentioned, “Whoever came up with these questions is pretty clever.” None would disagree, frankly speaking. Especially since the LPGA Tour Pro’s fans needed some relief after the golfer’s recent health scare. Talk about timing!
