The hip-hop artist from Beverly Hills has been very vocal about his love for golf. So much so that he even hosted a charity event to play alongside pro golfers and several celebrities. But now, his love for the sport may have tainted one of the iconic moments in the history of the Augusta Masters.

In 2005, during the last round of the Masters Tournament, Tiger Woods took a chip shot at the 16th hole, sinking the ball from the rough. The ball raised anticipation as it lingered on the rim of the cup for a couple of seconds before it sank. The 5 times Masters champion scored his 4th green jacket on that day.

Now, DJ Khaled wanting to commemorate the singularity made a video where he took a similar chip-in shot. Whether or not the finale of the shot was digitally mastered is unknown, nevertheless, the attempt was not well received by fans of the sport.

Fans of golf were divided by the attempt. While the accomplishment of a non-golfer was commendable, the moment at the 2005 Masters is fondly remembered. Some fans see it as a tainted moment.

It’s disrespecting Tiger Woods! Fans are upset

Many fans of the golfing community are outraged by the video. The uncertainty of the shot coupled with a marred memory of the 11-time PGA Player of the Year’s celebrated moment has ignited many negative reactions.

One fan said, “This guy is not a golfer. He’s making a mockery out of the sport whenever he posts shit like this. No class and no etiquette. It’s like the frat bros getting into golf during Covid to be able to go outside.”
