Rory McIlroy is one of the few talented players remaining on the PGA Tour. The golfer has made tons of records in his professional career. And his views about the new LIV Golf are known to all his fans. However, despite being against the new Saudi circuit, McIlroy is now suggesting a merger between the two, hoping to work things together.

Rory McIlroy gave an unexpected suggestion

McIlroy had a lot of friends in the world of golf until LIV Golf came into the picture. The golfer put forward his perception earlier, saying it was not easy for him to face his friends from LIV Golf during the BMW PGA Championship. But his recent statements suggest a solution for the two leagues.

McIlroy recently talked to ‘BBC’ at St Andrew’s on Wednesday and suggested a solution for the controversy using a unique analogy. He started by talking about the current situation with the ongoing lawsuits and said that things need to cool down. The 33-year-old then shared his words of wisdom.

“It has been an ugly year but there is a solution to everything,” McIlroy said“If we can send rockets to the moon and bring them back again and have them land on their own I’m sure we can figure out how to make professional golf cohesive again.”

It looked like the golf star was finally looking at the situation of the industry from a fan’s perspective. And keeping all his previous grudges aside, McIlroy suggested a merger. Although he is not the first person to suggest such a solution, it is a big statement from him considering his past interviews.

There has been no reaction from either of the tours yet, and the chances of a merger are still uncertain.

Greg Norman attacked McIlroy for his early interviews

Norman has been leading the LIV Golf league by luring out the best players from the PGA Tour. And he recently answered McIlroy’s statements by calling him a hypocrite for his statements. McIlroy had been talking about how wrong it was on the part of the PGA Tour players to shift to a new league betraying the former tour.

However, Norman pointed out the same in McIlroy’s case and said he had done the same thing by shifting to the PGA Tour from the European Tour. He added that these statements of ‘hypocrisy’ from McIlroy were not acceptable. Maybe McIlroy realized that going to a new tour for the players was not the issue. But LIV Golf becoming a real threat to the PGA Tour could be the actual problem.
