The wait is finally over! Or is it? A couple of days ago, Tiger Woods wrote this: “A new day rises,” giving a glimpse of the news he was about to share with the golf world. But the catch? The announcement would be made on February 12. In light of his recent split with Nike, everyone thought his announcement on Monday would be regarding his new apparel brand. But it seems like they’ve already got it all figured out.
In the tweet the 15-time major winner shared, he wore a gray set of gloves and a red shirt, which had the golf world going on a wild Easter egg search. “I wear red on Sundays because my mom thinks that is my power color,” Woods once revealed. However, it wasn’t his striking red shirt that caught everyone’s attention. It was his gloves. More specifically, the sliver of a logo seen on it and its resemblance to a certain recent trademark filing.
TaylorMade has been Tiger Woods’ equipment sponsor for six years now. And from the company’s recent trademark filing activity, they could be Woods’ new apparel provider as well. A few weeks ago, Taylor Made patented ‘Sunday Red,’ a subset of the company that will focus on clothing, notably including golf apparel. Along with the subset, the company also filed trademarks for three distinct logos, one of which was on Woods’ glove in the post.

TW Legion tweeted on X, writing, “The Sunday Red logo is visible on the glove.” This has led the golf world to believe that the 5-time Masters winner will sign with TaylorMade instead of launching his own brand, as speculated earlier.

The golf world seems to think Tiger Woods has made the “biggest downgrade”
When TaylorMade filed the trademark logos for ‘Sunday Red,’ NUCLRGOLF revealed the three logos. One was ‘Sunday Red’ written in all caps, the second was the outline of a leaping tiger (presumably referencing Tiger Woods), and the third was “SDR” around the leaping tiger. As far as first impressions go, the golf community wasn’t pleased with the designs. And the situation isn’t any better now.
Fans promptly reacted to this latest discovery about the potential secret behind Woods’ cryptic announcement. Seeing the logos alone was one thing. But seeing Tiger Woods sport the logo on his glove? They were quick to express their disappointment and criticized the whole situation. “Oh no. So they really are going with that?”

Another fan jumped on the criticism bandwagon and expressed their dislike for the ‘Sunday Red’ logo. “That logo is atrocious 🥴” they wrote. Echoing that sentiment, another wrote, “Ugly logo. I am a huge Tiger fan and always will be, but that logo is ugly.” Most fans of the legend are dreading the day the classic TW logo could likely be replaced by the leaping tiger. Just thinking about it made one fan write, “Ugh.”
Speaking of the TW logo, a fan quickly put on their thinking cap and asked an interesting question. They wanted to know if the absence of the TW logo had anything to do with Nike. “So no more TW symbol? Does Nike own that?” When tennis legend Roger Federer split with Nike and started wearing Uniqlo apparel, Nike kept the iconic RF logo. But Federer reclaimed it two years later. Considering this, could it be a similar situation with the TW logo?
Another disappointed netizen wrote, “This might be the biggest downgrade in sport.” As others wondered why Woods couldn’t just stick with the TW logo, a user shared their honest opinion. “I was sort of hoping this wasn’t going to be the logo.” And another called it “a tremendous L.”
