David Puig’s playoff at the International Macau Series started was dramatic. Puig lost to John Catlin after putting up a great fight. Both of them scored birdies on the first playoff hole after they finished at 23-under-257. However, Catlin made the last strike and that was when he took home the title and left Puig broken-hearted with $220,000. But even after losing the playoff, it was not the LIV star was worried about.

With hopes to earn OWGR points and make his way to the grandest stages that golf has to offer, Puig started to play on the Asian Tour. But now it seems, his efforts might not just reap him the desired results. Flushingit, recently took to Twitter to share glimpses of the interaction had with the golfer after he lost the playoff. It turns out, Puig was concerned about wanting a spot in the second major of the year, and said  “Does that still get me in the PGA (Championship)?”

David Puig was expecting to get an invite from the Masters that is scheduled from April 8-11, but he has not gotten any yet.  The point was further reiterated on Twitter. Praising Puig’s performance, and what all the other young LIV golfers such as Joaquin Niemann are doing to make themselves feel seen, the page reported, “These young LIV guys are hungry to qualify for majors, and talents like David fully deserve it. Maybe Augusta can see what he’s doing on the global stage and extend an invitation too.”

Before the tournament ended, he also expressed his wish to compete in the PGA Championship and finish in the top 100 in the world rankings. “Here I am trying to hopefully win or maybe finish second this week and see if I can break that top 100 and get into the PGA. That’s the main goal for this week.” As of now, none of it has happened since Puig is expected to reach at 105th spot from his present 132nd.

Puig has indefinitely made it his only concern for the moment to earn a spot at the PGA Championship that is scheduled to be held in April, even though LIV Golf has given up on earning OWGR points. Well, his dedication made him win the Malaysian Open last month, and he already grabbed a spot at the Royal Troon. Well, this is simply not the end of his dream. The Spanish player has another goal set for the coming year.
