On July 1, a snapshot of documents tweeted by @desertdufferLLG sent shockwaves through the golf community. These turned out to be part of a 357-page worth of antitrust suit brought against the PGA Tour by attorney Larry Klayman after the Tour banned players who had defected to LIV Golf.

Per the leak, Tiger Woods was reportedly set to deliver a rousing speech against the Saudi-funded league at a Tour players’ meeting during the 2022 Travelers Championship. It also revealed a set of “talking points” that the 15-time major winner would reportedly touch upon in the address. On Sunday evening, however, Woods publicly slammed the brand-new revelations. Just hours after his comments, LIV pro, Phil Mickelson also chimed in on the matter.

Despite the PGA Tour deciding to merge with its rival LIV league last month, the golfing circuit continues to get embroiled in controversies now and again. In a recent turn of events, hundreds of pages worth of emails, press clippings, investment agreements, and more that are part of a lawsuit against the Tour got unearthed, piquing the curiosity of the golf world.

While the PGA Tour is yet to respond to the documents, it hasn’t stopped players like Phil Mickelson from giving their two cents. So, what did ‘Lefty’ have to say?

Recently, Twitter user @NotDrJ (Pro Golf Critic) took to the bird app to address the “document dump” involving the Tour. In his tweet, he called out many in the golf media for always maintaining their silence on anti-PGAT matters. He even shared a screenshot of a conversation with well-known golf analysts at “No Laying Up” to prove his point.

Seemingly taking a jab at them, Mickelson wrote, “This tweet didn’t age too well.” The 6-time major winner’s response comes after Tiger Woods dismissed the new documents in a 35-word tweet.

Tiger Woods responds to newly unearthed documents concerning him

In early June, the PGAT-LIV union shook the golf world to its core. But, it was Tiger Woods’ deafening silence on the entire fiasco that frustrated many. On Sunday evening, the 47-year-old finally shared a cryptic tweet. It came in retaliation for the recently-uncovered documents from an antitrust lawsuit against the Tour.

According to the leak, the golfer was all set to deliver a scripted expletives-laden speech against LIV Golf during a players’ meeting last year. He was also supposed to make a plea to his golfing compatriots to defend the Tour against the breakaway golfing league.
