One can’t blame the reporter, seeing as how all eyes fell on Tom Kim recently owing to his temper tantrum. And his answer? It was nothing short of heartwarming as the golfer divulged his sensitive nature, all the while revealing the people who helped him maintain his calm. Enter his father and his wife!

“I get frustrated often,” said Schauffele in an interview ahead of the tournament, “I don’t operate well when I’m too angry or too happy.” In addition, the athlete also mentioned how he loses focus if he ever gets too chatty on the greens. “I quickly try to correct myself,” added the golfer, “Just knowing that it doesn’t do me well… I try and stay in the middle lane of my mind.”

The 2-time major champion recalled an instance when he was frustrated on the Korn Ferry Tour as a rookie. But what helped him was realizing that he needed to “stop kind of acting like a child.” But he didn’t do that alone. For the 2024 Open Championship winner had ample help from his father, Stefan Schauffele, and his wife, Maya Lowe.

It truly is fortunate that the 30-year-old Xander Schauffele has a family to take care of him if things do get a bit heated on the course. Tom Kim apologizes for his ‘vandalizing’

“I was clearly wrong,” admitted a regretting Tom Kim as he alluded to the meltdown at TPC Southwind. After missing a birdie putt at the par-4 12th hole, the frustrated youngster had used his putter to stomp on the greens, causing a divot on the surface of the grounds. As a result, a lot of public backlash ensued, leading him to apologize for the tantrum. “I apologize again and thank you for your support throughout a tough year.”

Tom Kim also pointed out how he wasn’t aware of the damage he did to the grounds. “If I did I would’ve never just left without repairing it,” said the athlete as he recounted how he was unaware of the same. Nevertheless, the South Korean golfer owed up to his mistakes, “[I] will take full responsibility of my actions and will be better going forward.”

Kim was unable to secure a place in the second playoff event set to tee off in Colorado. The pro could only finish at T51, just outside the 50th position that was needed to qualify for the 2024 BMW Championship. Truly unfortunate for the South Korean athlete!
