The 2022 Masters Tournament witnessed a different Tiger Woods. Known for his competitiveness, the golfer has never been friendly to his opponents in the past. However, he looked less intimidating at the Augusta National last week. And the sports columnist Skip Bayless is surprised by this.
“He made his four, and everybody goes crazy, and they shower him with love.” Bayless described how the audience reacted after Woods finished playing round 4 at the 2022 Masters Tournament.

“And he was accepting it in ways he never accepted it before,” Bayless added. Bayless and his co-host Shannon Sharpe were analyzing Woods’ comeback in their talk show ‘UNDISPUTED’ as he said this.
Known for making harsh criticism about the NBA star Lebron James, Bayless compared young Tiger’s old behavior to that of Michael Jordan. He used “Jordan-esque competitor with an edge to it” and a “cut-throat competitor” to define the golfer’s competitiveness.

The NBA legend Michael Jordan is widely popular for his fierce competitiveness on and off the court. MJ used to trash talk against his opponents while he was still playing. Furthermore, he has even trash-talked the former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, on a golf course.
Woods has always been competitive towards his opponents. His trash-talk battle with Phil Mickelson and feud with Sergio Garcia are just a few examples of his competitiveness.

“Well, this was bigger than that,” Bayless sounded excited as he explained Woods’ round 1 performance last week. “This was more impressive than even that.”
After his accident last year, Woods had made his comeback at the 2022 Masters. Despite taking a long break from competitive golf, Woods seemed in good form in round 1. He scored an impressive 1-under 71. Moreover, he made three birdies as well.

Woods finished the tournament with a 13-under par. It was his worst score at the Augusta National after turning pro. Yet, considering how he is still recovering from the car crash and is playing an official tournament after a long time, it was an impressive score.
