Is dropping Keegan Bradley a smart move, or is Team USA making a huge mistake?

“One of my goals was to make that Presidents Cup team,” said a hopeful Keegan Bradley. Well, what do you know? The athlete was able to achieve his aim when he was picked as a vice-captain for the U.S. team. But now, the golfer has been selected as Captain Jim Furyk’s wildcard entry. While the move is a praise of the athlete’s skills, it undoubtedly hints at the possibility of him playing as a captain in the upcoming 2025 Ryder Cup.

The 38-year-old, as per a report from The Mirror, was dropped from the position of Vice Captain as a result of being allowed to play at the biennial event. Bradley was chosen to do so owing to his recent performance on Tour, clinching a total of three top-10 placements, including a win at the BMW Championship and two runner-up finishes.

Coming back to the Ryder Cup that will tee off at Bethpage in the U.S., there is a high chance that Keegan Bradley will choose to be a playing captain, especially after the recent decision. He had even hinted at the idea of playing at the prestigious event despite its positives and negatives ahead of the 2024 TOUR Championship when asked about the same.

“There’s pros and cons to both sides,” highlighted the professional. “I think certainly being a vice-captain would help me being a captain at Bethpage because when you’re playing, your mentality changes a bit.” Bradley also added how stressful it would be if he were to play as he said, “You’re more stressed out. You’re thinking about, geez, I’ve got the alternate shot hole, I’ve got the tough drive. So there’s other things in your mind.”
