Is Jordan Spieth also following the legend’s suit? Tiger Woods had earlier withdrawn from his 2024 PGA Tour debut at the Genesis Invitational in the mid-round during the second day due to an illness. However, it seems as if Spieth is also set to follow the golfer, as rumors indicate that the professional is also sick.

Recently a tweet was shared by Bobby Blute, a golf analyst, on X (previously known as Twitter) mentioning how as per rumors Sky Sports reported that the Jordon is “also not feeling well.” It also pointed out how the pro had recounted last week that “his kids were sick,” all the while alluding to “a lot of things.”

Unfortunately, the PGA Tour pro being sick or healthy would not matter now since he has been disqualified from the tourney owing to his signing an incorrect scorecard. The American pro signed for a 3 while making a 4 on No. 4.

However, the second day of play did not bode well for the 30-year-old. He could only score 4 birdies during the same while dishing out an equal number of bogeys and a single double bogey coming out of the last hole. This pushed his numbers on the second day to end up at 2-over 73, which, combined with the first day’s score of 66 (-5) totals to a 3-under overall. The figures placing him at T20 did initially paint a bleak picture.

In an announcement on X, the PGA Tour mentioned, “Jordan Spieth has been disqualified from The Genesis Invitational for signing for an incorrect scorecard. Spieth signed for a 3 and made a 4 on No. 4.”

The three-time major winner acknowledged the error later Friday in a post on X and said, “Today, I signed for an incorrect scorecard and stepped out of the scoring area, after thinking I went through all procedures to make sure it was correct… Rules are rules, and I take full responsibility. I love this tournament and golf course as much as any on @PGATOUR so it hurts to not have a run at the weekend…”

American Patrick Cantlay took a five-shot lead into the weekend at 13 below, whereas Rory McIlroy fights to beat the lower after following up Thursday’s 74 with a flawless 66.

Even TWLEGION, a fan page following Woods, reported how Spieth was “not feeling well,” while alluding to the broadcasting company as the source. Meanwhile, the legend of the game was spotted leaving the Riviera Country Club in a red car not too long ago, despite the ambulance and the paramedics reaching the course.

His friend and business partner, Rob McNamara, revealed in an interview that the 48-year-old did not withdraw due to any problems with his back or his ankle. But, the athlete was down with the flu from the previous night, which only worsened as time went on during the second day of the Genesis Invitational. Meanwhile, as all of this transpires, one can’t help but take a look back at a particular instance when Spieth was down with an illness during an event on the PGA Tour.

Jordan Spieth and his tales of sickness

Even though the situation paints a disheartening picture for the American pro, a past instance of the golfer naturally comes to mind as rumors arise regarding his illness. The 13-time PGA Tour champion came down with a fever during the 2022 U.S. Open. Even burrowing under the sheets along with donning sweats could not deliver him from the dreaded misfortune.

The 3-time major winner did not give up even on the third day after a disappointing 1-over 71. “It was like, my stomach was upset but not like food poisoning,” said the golfer before continuing, “but I didn’t want to move a muscle and I couldn’t sleep.” He also revealed how he couldn’t get a feel for the lines off the tee, especially during the first three rounds. As for the score, he placed T37 with a 7-over 287 over the four days of play. Nothing short of inspiring!
