He is currently at T42, a total of 22 places below where he was placed yesterday, and well out of the title race. The reason for Jordan Spieth’s fall? A sub-par performance that resulted in a score of 76 (+5) on the third day of play at the Quail Hollow Club. This, in turn, increased his total score to an overall 3-over par. But not to worry, since he managed to win the hearts of many, all thanks to an amateur on the greens at the Myrtle Beach Classic, Blades Brown.
On Friday, the golfer had become the second straight 16-year-old to make a cut at a PGA Tour event with a score of 72-67, the first of whom was Kris Kim, who did the same last week at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Case in point: Brown went ahead to recount how an interaction with Spieth “meant the world” to him, all the while divulging how he just wants to follow the example of the professional!

“I’m just trying to act the way that Jordan Spieth did to me that one time,” divulged Brown as he recounted the experience he had with the professional when he visited the 2018 Masters practice round at Augusta National. Adding on, he mentioned how his interaction, when he was 10 years old, with the golfer, although little, had a huge impact on him: “I know it’s so little for me to do that to some little kid, but I know to that kid it means the world because that’s what it was like for me.”
Moving on, he was quickly queried on what exactly happened back in 2018 at the iconic golf course. “It was the 18th tee shot,” replied the amateur golfer as he alluded to the 465-yard, par-4 Holly, before swiftly continuing, “He bent down, talked to me, asked my name, made me feel like I was his friend. That’s the gift of influence. For him, that was just saying hi to a little kid, but to me, for a person of his caliber and his decoration, it meant the world.”
Truly a heartwarming story. But then again, curiosity naturally arises as to what happens after the whole interaction. Well, the then 24-year-old Jordan Spieth went ahead and finished T3 at the 2018 edition of the event with a score of 13-under 275, all the while raking in a cut of $748,000 as well as a figure of 210 FedEx points.
A cool story from Blades Brown about meeting @JordanSpieth:

With a flawless 5-under 66 at the par-71 course at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, the Nashville, Tennessee, native jumped up a whopping 26 spots to place himself at T22. He did so while carding a total of five birdies on Saturday, aside from the 10 of the same he made over the past two rounds along with 7 bogeys.
When asked about whether he would be able to replicate the numbers on Sunday, the youngster was visibly hopeful yet realistic as he went ahead to say, “Yes, it would be nice to shoot another 5-under or 6-under tomorrow. It could happen. But I’m 16 playing in a PGA TOUR event, so I’m just stoked to be here.” Well, who knew that a meet and greet with Spieth would lead to him liking the sport more, all the while expressing humility at his accomplishments? Nothing short of a touching story!
