Jon Rahm hit with a mighty jab! The Saudi-backed league had, a while back, shared an update on social media via its official handles. Interestingly, LIV Golf announced the arrival of the new team captained by none other than the Spaniard by posting a tweet containing a poster of the same, including a close-up shot of his face. However, Hunter Mahan did not stay still as he took to the post to take a jibe at the pro.

The tweet made by the Middle Eastern circuit was shared by Claire Rogers on her handle with a funny caption. However, Hunter Mahan also went ahead to comment on the post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) with a GIF and a caption mocking the $500 million dream boy. He mentioned how Jon Rahm “looks like kid gru with a beard,” all the while sharing a GIF of the character under the post.

Hunter Mahan throwing shade all around

Rogers, on her X handle, mentioned how “This is what the golf ball sees every time Rahm lines up a putt,” while alluding to the close-up shot of the Spanish pro. Well, it seems Hunter Mahan did follow suit, but in a more brutal manner. However, it’s not as if it’s the first time he has done it. The 41-year-old had taken to a chat with Bunkered to convey his frustration with Jay Monahan.

The 6X PGA Tour champ mentioned how the commissioner had “destroyed everything” while being blinded to the reality of things. Adding on, he said, “He’s trying to repaint everything and make it look as new. It’s a lot of ‘say one thing – and do another’,” before continuing to express his disbelief at how the official can continue like this.

Continuing with his response, the golfer went ahead to comment on how the PGA Tour has “done a really bad job of seeing the landscape and not adapting to it.” Moreover, he disclosed how they are not taking it seriously but instead are just reacting to the whole process as it goes by. The 2014 Barclays champ also took a jab at the commissioner as he said, “I don’t think there’s any doubt that Jay’s going to lose his job. He’s not going to get fired, but he’ll step down.”

Despite all the shade that Hunter Mahan has thrown at him, Jay Monahan seems to be determined to see the merger through, as he was even rumored to have met with Yasir Al-Rumayyan just a while back. Nevertheless, one can only hope that whatever transpires in the end will benefit the golf world as a whole, including its players.
