The entire golf world was in shock when Tiger Woods won his final major tournament at the 2019 Masters Tournament. Notably, the spectators weren’t shocked because he couldn’t do it, but because it was his first time winning a major in 11 long years! And as a colleague and friend, John Daly was so proud of Woods that he made a daring prediction about him.
“It just shows that he’s back,” Daly said in the Pat McAfee Show about Woods’ victory. He also added that he idolizes Jack Nicklaus. However, according to him, since Red Sox broke the Bambino curse and won the World Series, anything is possible.

“Tiger Woods is going to break Jack Nicklaus’ record,” Daly boldly stated. “I love to see him do it, be honest with you. I think it’s great for the sport.”
The Jack Nicklaus record that Daly wants Tiger Woods to break!
Jack Nicklaus ended his career in major tournaments in 2005 by playing his final Open Championship at St. Andrews. However, he didn’t end it not before he won 18 majors, a record number that is still unbroken. He has won 6 Masters Tournaments, 5 PGA Championships, 4 U. S. Opens, and 3 British Opens (the present Open Championship).

Everyone thought that Nicklaus’ record was unbreakable until Woods won his 15th major in 2019. After all, he is the only active Tour player who has reached anywhere near the record of Nicklaus. The third golfer to win the most majors is the late Walter Hagen, with 11 titles.
Are John Daly and Woods still friends?
Woods had criticized the PGA for letting Daly use a cart during the tournament in 2019. While it might look that the golfers had a beef on the matter, the duo are still friends.

Daly revealed the same in the Full Send podcast, in which he appeared after winning the PNC Championship with his son over Woods and his son. According to the 2-time major champion, Woods apologized for the incident as he didn’t know why Daly took the cart. Furthermore, he added that he was one of the first to call Woods when he got into a car accident.
