Will Hurricane Helene disrupt Tiger Woods' comeback momentum? How do you think he'll handle it?

He might be a ‘Bad Boy’ on the course. But in the end, the golfer is as human as any of us. Well, not something you would expect to hear about John Daly, right? Especially after witnessing his ‘adventures’ on the golf course. However, believe it, for the senior athlete came forward all the while praying for the safety of everyone. The reason? Cue the entry of Hurricane Helene (pun not intended!).

The 58-year-old shared a story on his Instagram handle mentioning the same. “Prayers for all those in the path of the big bend,” wrote Daly on his social media update as he added, “God Bless and Everyone Please Be Safe during Hurricane Helene!” That’s not all. The athlete even marked his home near the city of Tampa on satellite imagery of the dangerous hurricane, just outside the mainland on the Gulf of Mexico.

No wonder the golfer seemed quite nervous and scared for the people, including himself. Coming back to the hurricane, it has now strengthened into a category 4 storm as it travels to Florida’s northwest coast. Soon after, it will reach the Florida mainland and the opposite coast, near Tiger Woods’s home in Jupiter. Moreover, the forecasters had also warned, as per reports, that the huge system is capable of creating a ‘nightmare’ storm surge, causing dangerous winds and rain all over the southeast U.S.

According to the forecasting reports, the hurricane is currently accelerating through the Gulf of Mexico. Its direction? North-northeast through the state of Florida, causing much danger. Its speed? 23 mph (37 kph). And ‘life-threatening surges’ are predicted to reach as high as 20 feet in the Big Bend area of the state of Florida, where John Daly resides.

That’s not all. The upcoming natural disaster has also forced the government to declare a state of emergency in as much as 61 of the total 67 counties in the state of Florida. Moreover, the hurricane has a high chance of causing landfall between the Wakulla-Jefferson County line and Taylor County. Truly an unfortunate situation for the people living in that place.

Emergency declaration approved as Hurricane Helene poses danger for all

The President of the United States of America, just hours ago, approved an emergency declaration for the state of Alabama to assist in the difficulties faced by the hurricane. As per the declaration, the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency were authorized to coordinate disaster relief efforts.

Have an interesting take?

The statement by the POTUS mentions how the declaration was aimed at the purpose of “alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the storm and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures.” Anyhow, many in the community would be hoping that the hurricane goes by without much danger to everyone, including John Daly!
