A lot of speculation followed Rahm’s shift to the Saudi-backed league. And, among them, what stood out the most were the rumors surrounding the players Tony Finau and Tyrrell Hatton leaving the PGA Tour. Moreover, they were even said to join the Spanish professional’s newly formed team in the Middle Eastern circuit.

But the PGA Tour undoubtedly managed to breathe a sigh of relief when Finau came forward to dispel any talk of the same. Adding on, the American divulged how he is currently focused on his game. However, it seemed too soon to celebrate as rumors started rising again of the alternate tour making an exorbitant offer to the golfer for joining the league.

The talk on the street regarding the poaching of the two golfers, coupled with Wells Fargo withdrawing their sponsorship, has led to much chaos in the community. Moreover, a post was uploaded on X regarding the future of Monahan on the tour, all the while speculating how he is “without a doubt going to be forced to resign.” What’s more, the tweet also indicates how he “should have taken Greg Norman’s call from the start” whilst dubbing his inaction to do so as a “huge mistake,” no less!

Well, the tweet did not go unheard, as many came forward to express their opinion on the thought of the official getting fired. And it would not have been a pretty sight for the PGA Tour Commissioner.

The golf community goes bonkers for Jay Monahan to resign

The post on X garnered a lot of responses against the official. Moreover, most of the comments went ahead to ridicule the commissioner for his actions, despite the upcoming $3 billion merger and its deadline coming up. Let us now take a look at some of those comments.

Many golfers, if not all, wanted to play on both tours. However, the PGA Tour’s decision to cut them off led to a butterfly effect, which has now actually led to Rahm defecting to LIV Golf. And none of this would have happened if Jay Monahan had picked up Greg Norman’s call, or so says a fan!

Others were aggressive in their accusations, as they went ahead to dub the official as nothing short of “arrogant!” Moreover, his attitude against the alternate tour resulted in many decisions down the line, which, in turn, led to the current situation of the golfers. Well, one person did point out the same.

Another supporter also decided to think for the players, as he indicated how the body needs to prove that there is someone in charge, as opposed to Monahan. Well, this accusation might have stemmed from the fact that the official took a leave of absence due to personal reasons a while ago. Although he came back, the situation seems unchanged for many.

This time around, another follower did not just blame the commissioner but the whole top brass of the men’s golfing body. Moreover, their attitude towards the alternate tour and its players was dubbed poor, and this inflexibility inevitably led to the downfall of public opinion.

Many of the commissioners enjoy glory in the people’s minds, including the likes of Deane Beman. Moreover, he is credited with laying the groundwork for the economic success of the body back in his day. However, it seems as if Monahan wouldn’t enjoy the same treatment, as per a fan.
