With just 10 days away from the prestigious 2024 Masters Championship, all the golf enthusiasts eagerly await to see the elite players participating. The invitations had already been sent during the week before Christmas, making it a rather exceptional gift for those selected. From defending champion Jon Rahm, and OWGR No. 1 player Scottie Scheffler, to Will Zalatoris and Xander Schauffele, this year’s list truly is a whirlwind of elite golfers!
Phil Mickelson, too, is one of the top contenders, having secured the runner-up tie last year. He began his 2024 schedule in Mexico, where he competed in the LIV Golf Mayakoba championship. However, the outcome was disappointing, as he tied for the 51st position with Pat Perez and Peter Uihlein. However, Lefty might shake off his rusty form at the upcoming Masters Tournament.

Phil Mickelson, who won the Green Jacket three times in 2004, 2006, and 2010, securing himself a lifetime exemption, also has the highest number of wins after Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods. It looks like this year, he will try to come one step closer to his greatest rival, Woods, and bag the trophy for the fourth time.
Last year, the second position was a tie between Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka. Although Lefty did not start very well last year, scoring a double bogey and two bogeys in the first round, followed by a double bogey in the second and five bogeys in the third, he quickly made up for the lost effort in the final round.
He raced to the finish line in the final round of the Masters with a record-setting 65 to post the early clubhouse lead at 8 under. He is now looking forward to climbing up the ladder to the first position this year.

Lefty happens to be one of the few LIV golfers who will be teeing it off at the Augusta National this year. Even though there are a handful of them, a few names do pop up in mind from the Greg Norman-led circuit who might emerge as a tough competition for the rest of the field at this year’s Masters.
LIV Golfers to look out for at 2024 Masters
Starting the list with Chilean star, Joaquin Niemann, the young golfer has been rising through the ranks exponentially. Even though OWGR points are not awarded to the PIF-funded league, Niemann’s golfing prowess shone through the DP World Tour as well. He bagged the title of ISPS HANDA Australian Open in 2023 and started 2024 with a fourth-place finish at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Not to mention his recent individual win at LIV Jeddah 2024 and now eyeing to grab the Green Jacket for himself.

Next in line is the Australian golfer Cameron Smith. He won the Genesis in 2022. He also finished in the top 5 at the Masters consecutively for the past six years! He even reached the final pairing with Scottie Scheffler in 2022, and this year would be a great opportunity for him to finally grab the trophy.
Well, last but not least, is Brooks Koepka. The LIV Golfer already has two out of the four majors in his kitty. Koepka bagged two consecutive wins at the U.S. Open, first in 2017 and then in 2018. The same year, he won the PGA Championship and went on to win it in 2019 and 2023 as well.

Talking about his 2023 performance in the Masters, he was the 54-hole leader last year, missing the top rank by just a few points. It looks like the LIV Golfer has a certain affinity for the majors and would surely try to add the Masters as the third major title to his list of victories. The game surely is going to be a fun roller coaster ride for the golf community this year! But only one will don the green jacket. Stay tuned to find out who!
